Tiziano Barberi, Ph.D. Associate Scientist, Southwest National Primate Research Center at Texas Biomedical Research Institute
Tiziano Barberi, Ph.D., is an associate scientist at the Southwest National Primate Research Center at Texas Biomedical Research Institute. He has more than 20 years of experience working in stem cell research. His research group studies the directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC) and non-human primate stem cells into specific fates. Dr. Barberi aims to generate hPSC-derived specialized progeny that will be used for drug screening, modeling of diseases, and for pre-clinical applications. His studies encompass the development of the skeletal muscle system, the retina of the eye and early neural development. Dr. Barberi is also a prolific photographer, focused on macrophotography, portraits and landscapes. He will showcase three full-sized pieces and feature a rolling online montage of his photographs at the SA Entrepreneurship Week Arts & Science event.
