Sergio is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at the Greehey School of Business in St. Mary’s University. He received his Bachelor of International Business degree from Tecnologico de Monterrey (Monterrey Tech), his Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas-Pan American, and his Ph.D. in Management from New Mexico State University (NMSU).
His entrepreneurial background includes 8 years in food manufacturing and distribution. He founded his first company right after finishing his undergraduate degree. His company developed pre-packaged food products and served retailers such as H-E-B Mexico for 8 years.
Sergio’s teaching experience includes courses on The Entrepreneurial Mindset, Social Entrepreneurship, 3-Day Startup, Managing Innovation and Change, Business Plan Development and New Venture Creation, Managing Growth, E-Commerce, and Operations and Supply Chain Management.
His current research interests include entrepreneurship and e-commerce. He has published in peer-reviewed outlets such as the Business and Society Review and International Journal of Bank Marketing.
Sergio serves a mentor at Geekdom, Business Careers High School and at St. Mary’s University.
