Juan Cano

Commercial Real Estate Finance and Development Professional

Juan Esteban Cano is a commercial real estate finance and development professional, currently engaged by the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation to assist in managing public private partnerships and leasing strategy. Hemisfair’s development plans call for over 1 million square feet of mixed-use real estate on 40+ acres of land in the core of downtown San Antonio, Texas. His core mission is for the development of iconic communities that leave a lasting, positive economic and social impact on the communities where they are built.

Prior to Hemisfair, Juan was in charge of International Investor Relations, Capital Markets, Acquisitions and Development for Brass Real Estate Funds, where Juan supported the project team through all aspects of closing over $80 million in capital transactions. Juan has been involved in all phases of the commercial real estate lifecycle to include acquisitions and dispositions, raising debt and equity, as well as the day-to-day oversight of the Central Texas EB-5 Regional Center. He is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Mandarin Chinese.

Juan was born in Medellin, Colombia and raised in the San Francisco bay area, before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably until 2005. As a former United States Marine, Juan understands servant leadership. Having worked in Beijing, China and liaised with multiple other world cities, Juan has amassed business contacts globally. This international breadth of experience allows him to analyze deals and opportunities with a profound understanding and perspective. Juan holds degrees in Real Estate Finance and Development, and International Management from the School of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He is also an adjunct lecturer and mentor for the UTSA graduate school of commercial real estate finance and development.

Outside of work, Juan volunteers on three non-profit boards for the Urban Land Institute, LiftFund and the Leadership Organization of Professionals. He is an avid world traveler, adventure motorcyclist and the single father to two beautiful Siberian Huskies.
