Carlos Alvarez

Musician and Trustee, Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy

Carlos Alvarez oversees the A&R and music publishing divisions for Azteca Music Group. A 360 entertainment company specializing in the marketing of Regional Mexican music. Most weekends, you can also catch him in a mariachi suit performing at a private event or at a concert.

Carlos has been a working professional in the music industry since he was 16 years old. Twenty-one years now, he has been fortunate to make this his career. He sees his membership with The Recording Academy as the way to be able to give back to his peers and colleagues in the music community. He can do this through the Academy’s advocacy, professional development, and wellness initiatives that they create, program, and implement throughout all the chapters of the organization.

Creatively, he just finished working on two new albums for the company (Azteca records artists La Maquinaria and La Energia Nortena). He is preparing to A&R two more projects for the label soon as well. He is also producing some tracks for two indie artists. On the business end, well, there’s a lot going on there. Too much to list.

When he is not working on music, he really tries to spend all of his “free” time with his wife and daughter. They love music, golf, and watching action movies. He tries to turn on the grill as much as possible. They often attend local events that raise funds for educational programs.
